Token handling

For data security reasons, SIHOT does not store any credit card data. If the token handling has been enabled, SIHOT sends the data to a tokeniser that converts the credit card data into a token, which is a unique code consisting of letters and numbers. The token is immediately forwarded to the online payment provider (e.g. Saferpay, Datatrans), where there will be a check if the credit card is valid and if it can be used for payments. If this is the case, the token is sent back to SIHOT and will show here in the field Token. The actual credit number will disappear and will no longer be shown in SIHOT.

The token is specifically used for running the program Automatic settlement by cancellation type. The token may also be used for payments and for the settlement of invoices without having to enter the credit card details again. However, the token cannot be used to carry out an authorisation on the guest’s credit card - to authorise a credit card on check-in or during the guest’s stay use the card that the guest physically presents for this purpose.
