Comparing Housekeeping Report and Revenue Statistics

The Housekeeping report is not designed to be compared with the Revenue Statistics of the same day. The following example explains why.

è EXAMPLE: A guest is accommodated at the hotel from Monday to Sunday. Sunday’s night run posts the fix services. The revenue of accommodation and breakfast is therefore allocated to Sunday’s revenue. However, the breakfast list printed during the night run shows the number of breakfasts on Monday morning.

Conclusion: the breakfast list may - at best - be compared to the revenue statistics of the day before.

The housekeeping report cannot be printed for the past, as guests that have checked-out are not being included.

Further deviations may arise for the following reasons:

Manual postings are not included on the breakfast list.

The breakfast list is a forecasting tool, which means that possible no-shows are still included, although these may not produce any revenue.

Drawing conclusions from the gross revenue of a revenue account towards the number of items posted is equally inexact. When posting manually, the service has to be posted correctly. There is a distinct difference in posting:

    2 breakfasts à € 15.00 = € 30.00 or

    1 breakfast à € 30.00 = € 30.00

The second example gives the correct amount but the wrong number of breakfasts.

Another possibility is that breakfast for in-house guests is posted with € 0.00. This only increases the number of breakfasts.
