The BAR-container is set-up in the package master file. This container does not contain any rates, as reservations are charged the prices of the applicable BAR-level. The BAR-container, therefore, is a placeholder for the room rate and it also contains a number of settings, including the component list, that apply to all associated BAR-levels.
The BAR-container is also transmitted to interfaces such as SIHOT.Web.
The BAR-container is defined by a star * in the field BAR definition and the following settings apply to all its BAR-levels:
• VAT (or other national taxes)
• VAT-calculation (for component list)
• Yield (as applicable - either SIHOT.Yield or External yield system)
• Yieldable value
• Component list entries
You can setup as many BAR-containers as required. Different containers must be used for different products or packages, for example a BAR excluding breakfast (room only) and a BAR including breakfast.
Each BAR-container has its own BAR-Definition that follows the syntax “*:X”, where X stands for container’s number or name. For example:
1. BAR-definition - *:RO
BAR-container for room only, the rate does not include any other services
2. BAR-Definition - *:BF
BAR-container BAR including breakfast
NOTE:
The field BAR-definition can contain 10 characters
max. Therefore, select a poignant abbreviation for the name of the
BAR-container, as this is to be entered in the BAR-level in the same field
together with the BAR-Level number.

NOTE:
The tracking code of a BAR-container is shown in
reservations in the field Promocode (expander Additional data). However, this applies
only if the BAR-level for the day does not have a tracking code. The tracking
code can be analysed for example in the Reservation ad hoc
reporting.
